Matthew says
I tend to think that technological advancement is a net good, but I actually see problems with a post-scarcity society. If we are not working, physically or intellectually, what are we going to do? I am not just saying we will be bored, I think it will cost us psychologically if not spiritually. Now maybe that is a good trade off for people not starving but there will be problems. I have come to believe that a lot of the “crises of masculinity” is that a lot of guys sit on their butt and type on the computer all day long when we are conditioned to do hard work. I am NOT saying we should go back to some non-existent “good ole days” but there are always problems. It seems that with the advance of technology we are having a degeneration of basic wisdom. Now it might be possible to have both and definitely certain individuals will live their lives wisely but not everyone will. Hopefully, we can figure out a way to use technology wisely.
