Great podcast! You and Mr. Macyoung said a lot of things that need saying.
I sometime wonder if the parallel economy is just going to divide us farther because all the conservatives will go to the conservative companies and all the liberals to the liberal ones. We will have less in common with those who disagree with us. That’s why it was so bad sports turned political because that was something most people had in common. It was also a source of catharsis. Now, we are lacking that as a culture. There are signs that is turning around, but it will be largely determined by how ideological the business leaders are.
I’ve hated Disney before it was cool to hate Disney. It was always so phony. They often behave like an evil megacorp from a cyberpunk novel. Now, they have to compete with more animation companies like Studio Ghibli in Japan.

I see two primary outcomes: the parallel economy leads to conflict as it becomes a struggle for resources. Or corporations dial back the politics as their bottom line gets affected and big shareholders become angry. We’ll see…

I hope it is the second, but I worry about the first.
